The client is one of the largest international oil operator with a focus on special Oil products. Decom were appointed to manage the full EEMUA 159 inspection of a 24m x 11.2 4.5million litre above ground storage tank. The tank had been unused for some time, but due to an increase in business activity the client needed to bring it back into service quickly in order to react to the increased sales demands. Decom were appointed as Principal Designers and Principal Contractors for the project working under CDM regulations 2015.

EEMUA 159 Tank Repairs

DECOM managed the procurement process, building a detailed scope of work and bill of quantities in which suitable contractors could price again, DECOM used our Bonus/Malus system to determine which company offered the best overall value whilst maintaining the highest levels of Health and Safety. DECOM managed all works this included, asbestos and paint sampling, scaffolding, industrial cleaning UHP jetting, de-lagging and lagging of the tank, painting, tank inspection and repairs to EEMUA 159 standards, removal and installation of new valves, pumps and plant, installation of all electrical and air connections to plant. During the works DECOM project managers found additional repairs required that were not in the tank inspection report, the issues found were rectified. All work was completed safely on time and budget. DECOM managed over 10,000 man hours without any incidents or accidents. All work was completed within programme and budget.
