ATEX Plant Inspection and Repairs
DECOM established a CDM area and controlled all work within the area issuing daily permits to work and carrying out daily briefings with all contractors involved in the project. The project had specific complications in that the area was ATEX rated so control of hot works was especially important and had to have meticulous planning and extra controls to ensure safety of all personnel. The project required access and working in confined spaces inside the vessels, carrying out constant air monitoring at all times. Some complex crane lifts were managed lifting out awkward shaped and heavy plant through temporary openings in the roof, to allow new equipment to be re-installed. All work was carried out safely, on budget and on time with no accidents or incidents. The plant was commissioned and the area handed over the client for continued commercial operation.
